ABOUT JIM /
I've been Walking, Scrambling and Climbing for over 20 years. I grew up just north of the Lake District in the heart of the Eden Valley and now live just outside the Peak District.
I hold the Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor qualification (formerly known as the Mountaineering Instructors Award) which is the highest summer based Mountaineering and Rock Climbing Qualification in the UK as well as the Winter Mountain Leader. I'm First Aid Qualified as well as being fully insured for all the activities I teach. I've completed over 25 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Days since qualifying so that I continue to remain current with all new developments.
My Personal Experience
I am experienced in climbing in most areas of England (Lakes, Peak, Cornwall, Northumberland, Avon) Scotland and Wales in both Summer and Winter
I have also climbed in the Alps and Dolomites during the summer and winter as well as in the Antarctic. I have trekked in Norway, Ecuador, Chile, Bolivia and Patagonia
Personal Life
I'm a husband and father to two children. I have a BEng (Hons) Degree in Civil Engineering from Loughborough University
I am an enthusiastic climbing book collector (over 200+ signed first editions) and bit of a geek when it comes to climbing literature in general. I'm also a true lover of Malt Whisky.
